What It’s Like to Be Dyslexic (Video)

Simply put, many people don’t understand what it’s like to have Dyslexia.  Not only do people fail to understand the tremendous challenge, but Dyslexia jokes are common, and sometimes cruel.

If you were to run a tweet search on Twitter for Dyselxia, you’ll find a maze of jokes.  Most of these tweets will joke about how that individual must have Dyslexia, because they couldn’t spell something right, or because the letters looked out of order.  While this is one symptom of Dyslexia, there are many more.

Creating awareness for Dyslexia and all of it’s symptoms is critical for not just folks that struggle with the disorder, but also for educational professionals, parents, peers of Dyslexics, and doctors.  The students at Coventry University created a powerful and unique video that aims to bring understanding of the symptoms of Dyslexia.  The video is called, “What is it like to have Dysleixa?”.  Check them out on YouTube and watch their video below.

Dear Rich and ChromaGen Vision,

Many thanks for posting this article, quiz, and video about dyslexia on your We Read Better blog! So many parents and teachers ask me, “What is it REALLY like when someone has dyslexia?” I have bookmarked your blog article here so that I can go right to it and provide an excellent resource each time it is asked—and there will be many more times, I’m certain.

Also, thank you for all you do to provide the much-needed information about vision-related learning challenges on your blog. I read each article and then share with many other teachers and parents. Please continue the great work you do on behalf of the many struggling readers and learners who need this information! Happy New Year to all of you at ChromaGen Vision!
